Winthrop's Joint Report to Consolidate - Boston Globe Story by John Laidler
GLOBE NORTH NEWS BRIEFS
April 15, 2010
WINTHROP
KEEPING IT SEPARATE — Town Manager James McKenna and School Superintendent Steven Jenkins have prepared a joint report examining the potential consolidation of certain general government and school functions. Prepared at the request of the Municipal Council and the School Committee, the report looked at the financial, management information systems, and human resources functions of the town and schools and concluded that a significant consolidation would not be worthwhile. But the report recommends the town reestablish three positions — town auditor, grants administrator, and human resources manager — that would serve both the town and the schools. — John Laidler
