MWRA Message - A Boil Water Order & Water Ban on all non-essential water use
This message affects the following MWRA water use communities only:
Arlington
Belmont
Boston
Brookline
Canton
Chelsea
Everett
Lexington
Lynnfield water district
Malden
Marblehead
Medford
Melrose
Milton
Nahant
Newton
Norwood
Quincy
Reading
Revere
Saugus
Somerville
Stoneham
Stoughton
Swampscott
Wakefield
Waltham
Watertown
Weston
Wilmington
Winchester
Winthrop
There is a leak on a major water pipe in Weston that has disrupted water service to all of our customer communities east of Weston.
MWRA is issuing a boil water order and water ban on all non-essential water use until further notice.
MWRA is working on activating emergency water supplies such as the Chestnut Hill Reservoir and Spot Pond Reservoir. A boil water notice has been issued for the service area along with a water ban. We request that all non-essential water use be discontinued until further notice.
The Emergency Operation Center in Chelsea is open.
This 120-inch diameter pipe transports water to our communities east to Weston, as far north as Wilmington and South to Stoughton. (A complete list of water communities is available on-line at http://www.mwra.com/02org/html/whatis.htm.)
State emergency procedures are in place, MEMA has been activated, and all water users should look for information on www.mass.gov.

WMRA Water Main Break -- Boil Water Order Issued for Winthrop
Attention: All Winthrop Residents & Business Owners/Operators
Date: Saturday, May 1, 2010
The Town of Winthrop has been advised by the MWRA, due to a large water main break in Weston, Massachusetts, a BOIL WATER ORDER is being ISSUED for DRINKING WATER for ALL MWRA communities east of Weston until further notice, which includes Winthrop.
Per order of the Governor of Massachusetss and the Winthrop Public Health Department, we are advising that ALL water for any domestic consumption use is to be boiled.
Business are able to stay open as long as they are able to boil their water being used for consumption or are able to offer bottled water to their customers. The Winthrop Police will be notifying in person business of this order.
The Town of Winthrop will advise you once we have any updates or to reverse this order or you may call the MWRA Emergency Operations Center at 617/305-5970.
